Aurélie Richard

Intrigued as I was with home design, I structured my Masters project around the role of ornaments in the home and created an infinitely modulable pattern. I began to discover the structural and plastic qualities of woolen felt and how they can be used to satisfy the ornamental and functional demands of creating patterns, and the resulting project was put on exhibition in Felletin and Rome.

I then met up with Metylos and we began our 18-month collaboration on ways of creating form and shape with this demanding material. We explored the possibilities offered by the use of different thicknesses and densities of felt in order to develop significant creations for the collections and finalize my Masters project, which was named ‘Louison’ and put into production.

My approach to design is to create a home setting that uses both imaginative and functional objects whilst simultaneously conserving an element of enchantment and magic.
